UNFINISHED BUSINESS

Finalizing Constitution and Bylaws. The group accepted the Constitution and Bylaws noting the following decisions: (1) Number 4 Objective should read, “inspire the business community to support and promote WAVE’s water quality awareness ‘programs’ instead of the word ‘endeavors’” and (2) “membership promotion” should be stated as a separate objective.

APPOINTMENT OF OFFICERS

RC&D suggested to appoint officers (or accept volunteers) from with the organization’s founding group, so the officers can make decisions immediately instead of waiting to build membership. With this advice in mind, the following officers were appointed:

            Vice-President              Holly McCutchan

            Secretary                      Pam Pelaski

NEW BUSINESS

Watershed Database. Shirley James suggested that WAVE look into collecting and combining all reports on watershed studies into a cohesive database. Holly McCutchan suggested that this effort would be a good project for a graduate student working on a thesis or research project.

Government, Business, and Civic Agencies Involvement. Fred Padget brought up the point that WAVE needs to get city and county officials involved with the possibility of a mayoral endorsement. Others present mentioned that WAVE needs to enlist representatives from the health, sewer, and water departments. Then Fred also suggested contacting agencies such as Farm Bureau, Better Business Bureau, Chamber of Commerce, and Tucker Publishing.
